What Is A TBRI Training?

TBRI® provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to bring bring hope and healing to families. It is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

Who Are TBRI Trainings For?

TBRI® is a statewide strategy designed to give multi-disciplinary trainings to the following people who serve children and families. the knowledge and practical skills they need to bring hope and healing

  • Parents

  • Caregivers / Potential Foster Parents

  • Volunteers and Professionals

  • Community Partners

  • DCFS

  • Service Providers (Mentors, Social Workers, etc.)

Why Attend a TBRI Training?

Parenting is challenging, particularly when you are parenting a child from a hard place. Children from hard places include children who experienced distress in the womb or during delivery, were hospitalized early in life, were abused or neglected, or experience trauma, whether natural or man-made. TBRI® Introduction & Overview will focus on understanding the meaning of child behaviors, the brain chemistry of a child from a hard place, and how to help children and families heal and connect.

The Benefit of Completing Training

  • Online trainings are approved for 6 foster parent training hours.

  • LCA CEU hours distance learning, MCLEs via online training, and clinical social work CEUs distance learning. Successful completion of course requirements is required to receive CEUs. 

  • These trainings are FREE for DCFS staff and foster parents, and only $25 for all other attendees.

  • Project MADE Mentors will receive a Certificate of Completion
